Downside of being an Expat:Saying Bye Sucks!!! My story
Postet av Nations Abroad Consulting LTD den 22. Aug 2013
Thing is,as an expat you will meet hundreds of foreigners in whatever country you are currently situated;you'll make friends with people who, unless you were extremely outgoing you would have never made friends with if you were back home. We are all 'new-kids' so that common factor automatically brings people together. But when schools out at the end of the year or contracts' up or God-forbid u get kicked out of the country coz of visa hiccups;you cannot escape the sometimes dreaded "bye, stay in-touch" goodbye hug,handshake,hi-5,wave that u either give or get.
'Staying in-touch' well let's face it; its easier said than done and sometimes it's just a polite way of saying "yeah I know we have been friends since I came here and you are cool and all but you are probably soon going to be reduced to a story I tell my friends about 'this cool dude I met when I was in China'"
Sad but true. I can't say for sure that I will religiously keep in touch with all the friends I have made hear but I will surely try coz I have met some of the coolest people I know here..I even thought I was in love once but turned out to be a false alarm..haha
Anyhu I guess what am saying is it depends on the value you put on your friendships and how much you are willing to go to keep them....
